History & General Information
The Rose Ball is considered a charming persiflage on the Austrian ball culture – presented in a playful, coquettish and facetious manner. The Rose Ball does not forgo popular traditions such as an opening polonaise, but is, all things considered, a wild party within the glamorous framework of a ball, that blows any kind of boundaries (sociopolitical, ethnic or social) to smithereens with its unique audience mix.
This fixture of the Vienna ball season was brought into being by gay organizer HEAVEN VIENNA by and for the Vienna gay scene. The still considerable gay contingent has mixed beautifully with other groups to form an "attendee mélange“, which can stand up to any cosmopolitical comparison.
MISS CANDY is the legendary Matron of the Ball and, in all her splendour, she also acts as PR-motor, show act and the ball’s mascot.
The Rose Ball is a hot spot on the scene, and has evolved into the after-show party of the Opera Ball, a fixture for music lovers, a ball alternative for company bosses, a “see and be seen” event, and last but not least, the darling of the press...
The growth and success of the last few years is not least due to the new organizational line-up: Event agency HANNAHS PLAN has been on board since 2007, developing the whole production and signing on as organizer.
What’s it like at the Rose Ball?
Rollicking, fun, and whacky, with the accent on the party, as well as on exhibitionism, avant-gardism, design and fashion...
In short: unconventional, yet widely accepted!
